When you break down steps of creating your own fashion brand, you may find it confusing how many steps there are: designing, sampling, production, collaborating, wholesaling, shipping, customer service.
Did you notice that I didn’t mention social media, patterning, sourcing, marketing, website management, and of course branding? Oh, and there is also finding storage space.
I often tell my clients that the key to success in fashion business is staying creating at every stage of creating and developing your brand. It also helps to stay positive and understand that it takes time to build a fashion brand from scratch (remember, Gucci was as confused when it started out as a brand!).
What’s branding?
When it comes to fashion business, branding is everything. Having strong message helps customers connect to your brand and the clothing they wear.
If a customer listens to the brand, it creates a special connection. Through proper branding, you get to make your customer feel as if your brand is a sort of an extension of themselves.
When you extend your clothing line, your customers eagerly purchase the items from it. That’s because they have developed a special connection to your brand.
It matters in fashion business how you establish branding from the very start of your brand’s life. You’ll have to analyze what’s so special about your products, how to interconnect that with your social media content and how to make customers experience relate to that overall feel of your brand.
Consistency is key
Consistency is a major part of success when it comes to branding. That’s why I always urge my clients to have consistency throughout their brand. You have to be following one particular language, tone and feel of your brand. You have to adopt your own, signature thing.
The thing your customers will always return for.
